Repairs With Care

Thanks to Tom Wincek and friends from the Hopkins Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL) shown here, for helping with numerous projects over the years.

Most people want to remain at home as they age and sometimes it just takes a little help to make that possible.

Our volunteer members make hundreds of small repairs to help people maintain their homes for safe and independent living. Typical tasks include fixing leaks, changing screens to storm windows, patching masonry, cutting the grass, repairing light fixtures, and building hand railings.  Most projects can be done in an hour or two. Sometimes we take on bigger projects and we need several people and professionals to get jobs done.

We always need people with building skills AND funds for materials.

See Jobs To Do for tasks requested this week.           If you or your company can help out, call John or Eb at 410.544.4800 or email handyman@partnersincare.org.  We'll make a good match between your skills and interests and the jobs that need to done. Thank you!

- To help avoid elder abuse in home repairs, we can suggest contractors and vendors to provide good work at fair prices.
- We have a CAPS Certified staff member (Certified Aging in Place Specialist). We advocate for Universal Design and Visitability elements to makes homes easier to live in and more accessible.

Kudos to handyman Jim Fleming for this creative solution!  Previously, the heavy oxygen tank's small wheels got stuck in the homeowner's thick carpet.  Jim built this easy-to-handle cart in his shed with bigger wheels and a sturdy handle. Scroll down to see the before and after pictures.
