Building Community With Time Banking

With a new local office and a full-time coordinator, Partners In Care has committed to expanding its membership and fulfilling its mission to more Frederick Countians.

Emily Kilby, PIC/Frederick coordinator since January '07, is a Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) whose primary work goal is to recruit new members and facilitate increased service exchanges among the PIC community.

Emily is a ‘65 graduate of Hood College, with a MA in English and MFA in creative writing from Bowling Green State University in ‘70 and ‘71. Her work career has included a variety of employments, from teaching to farm work to 25 years as a writer and editor at EQUUS, a horse magazine. Emily’s education in gerontology has been hands-on, learned while assisting many aged aunts and now her 89-year-old mother as they remained independent in their homes.

service exchanges throughout Frederick County.

The Janis Miller Wertheimer Fellows

Congratulations to lifelong Frederick County residents and sisters, Grace and Edna Smith, who have been designated as Wertheimer Fellows by the Community Foundation of Frederick County. See the September issue of the beautiful Frederick magazine for a description of Grace and Edna's contributions to a number of organizations in the county, in addtion to Partners In Care.
